What a Personal Stylist Actually Does (And Why It's Not Just for Rich People)
When most people hear the words "personal stylist," they picture someone following a celebrity around New York City carrying garment bags and designer purses.
Trust me, I used to think the same thing.
I thought personal stylists were for women with unlimited budgets, giant closets, and lives that somehow required six different outfits a day.
Then I became one.
And what I realized is that most women don't need someone to tell them what's trendy. They need someone to help them figure out what works.
Because here's the truth:
Most women already hav
The problem isn't that we don't own enough.
The problem is that we don't know how to make it all work together.
We buy a shirt because it's cute.
We buy a pair of pants because they're on sale.
We buy a dress because we think we'll wear it someday.
And before long, our closets are full, but somehow we still feel like we have nothing to wear.
Sound familiar?
I've lived it.
I've stood in front of a closet packed with clothes and still changed outfits three times before leaving the house.
I've packed way too much for trips because I wasn't confident in what I was bringing.
I've bought things because they looked great on someone else only to realize they didn't feel like me at all.
And that's exactly why I love styling.
Because styling isn't really about clothes.
It's about solving problems.
A personal stylist helps answer questions like:
- What should I wear to this interview?
- How do I pack for a week-long vacation without bringing my entire closet?
- What do I wear now that my body has changed?
- How do I dress for my current season of life?
- What pieces should I keep?
- What pieces should I donate?
- How do I stop wasting money on clothes I never wear?
- How do I finally figure out my style?
Those are the questions women are actually asking.
And honestly? They're questions I ask too.
One of my favorite things to do is a closet edit.
Not because I want you to throw everything away and start over.
Quite the opposite.
I want to see what you already have.
I want to find the pieces you've forgotten about.
I want to identify the things you wear over and over.
I want to understand what makes you feel confident.
Because chances are, your style clues are already sitting in your closet.
Most women don't need an entirely new wardrobe.
They need a better strategy.
They need staples.
They need versatility.
They need someone to help connect the dots.
Sometimes that's helping a woman create a travel capsule so she can pack lighter and feel more confident on vacation.
Sometimes it's helping someone prepare for a new job.
Sometimes it's helping a mom who has spent years taking care of everyone else reconnect with herself.
Sometimes it's helping someone navigate a divorce, a promotion, an empty nest, a weight change, or a completely new chapter of life.
Life transitions almost always show up in our closets.
The woman who is becoming someone new often wants her wardrobe to reflect that.
Not because she's trying to be someone she's not.
Because she's finally becoming more of who she is.
That's where my coaching background comes in.
When you work with me, you're not just getting someone who helps you pick out clothes.
You're getting someone who understands women.
Someone who knows what it feels like to lose confidence.
Someone who knows what it feels like to be overwhelmed.
Someone who knows what it feels like to stand in front of a closet and wonder why nothing feels right anymore.
And you're definitely getting someone who is going to hype you up.
Probably more than you expected.
Because confidence has always been my favorite thing to build.
The clothing is simply the vehicle.
I don't care if we're finding your perfect pair of jeans.
Building a travel capsule.
Planning outfits for an Auburn football weekend.
Preparing for an interview.
Or helping you figure out what your personal style even is.
I want you to walk away feeling more confident than when you arrived.
Because great style isn't about impressing other people.
It's about feeling like yourself.
And every woman deserves that.
Even if she's never worked with a stylist before.
Especially if she's never worked with a stylist before.
